Wesley van der Spuy
Chief Executive Officer
Wesley worked as a solicitor at the law firms Dwyer Durack and Freehills before joining Odyssey in 2015. After two years at Odyssey, Wesley was appointed the company’s Chief Executive Officer, having previously held the position of General Manager. In this capacity, Wesley is directly responsible for establishing the company’s strategic direction and ensuring that the company meets its performance and strategic objectives.
During his time with Odyssey, Wesley has implemented various initiatives that have allowed the company to streamline its operations, improve profitability in line with changing market conditions, and diversify its workforce. Moving forward, Wesley plans to continue investing in the company, its valued employees, and the communities in which Odyssey operates.
Yvonne Wortelboer
HR & Personnel Logistics Coordinator
Yvonne joined the Odyssey team in 2022 in the role of HR & Personnel Logistics Coordinator. She brings to the position over 12 years of experience in crewing and logistics management having worked on some of Australia’s biggest oil and gas projects. Yvonne has overseen personnel logistics and crewing on vessels for both construction and marine crew with POBs of 300+, dealing with both domestic and international crew members.
Andrea Ang
Financial Controller
Andrea is a chartered accountant with 8 years’ auditing experience and more than 10 years’ experience in the Australian resources sector. In her role as financial controller, Andrea manages the company’s accounting and treasury functions, ensuring they comply with financial reporting and regulatory requirements.
Matthew McCaffrey
Marine Superintendent
Matthew started his career in the marine industry working on charter vessels throughout Sumatra in Indonesia and then the Abrolohos Islands of Western Australia. He then took on a role with Transfield, completing beacon maintenance on all state-owned navigation aids along the Western Australian coast. Matthew then broadened his marine experience working with various jack-up barge operators in the capacity of Barge Master, completing projects in Hay Point, Lucinda, Western Port, Cape Preston and Port Hedland before securing a permanent position with a line boat operator in Port Hedland in 2012.
Matthew joined Odyssey in early 2017 when the line-boat component of Odyssey’s operations doubled in size.
He is an experienced vessel master who moved into the role of Training Master for Odyssey in late 2019. In this role he coached, instructed and monitored the performance of the Port Hedland crew whilst also developing and implementing the Odyssey Marine Lines and Draft Survey Vessel Training Program. Matthew was promoted to Marine Superintendent in late 2021 and, with over 10 years’ experience and knowledge in Port Hedland’s marine operations, has been leading the site team in safe operations since.
Ryan Baker
Operations Manager
Ryan entered the marine industry at an early age as an apprentice shipwright. Since then, he has achieved his marine qualifications and worked on a variety of vessels in several industries, including dredging, construction, and oil and gas. Ryan joined Odyssey in 2016 as a master and has since been promoted several times. In 2023, he took on the role of Operations Manager and now oversees Odyssey’s daily operations, including quality control, crewing, and training for over 90 staff and contractors across the company’s inshore and towage businesses.
Catherine Foster
HSEQ Coordinator
Catherine is a skilled HSEQ coordinator who has brought her expertise to Odyssey since joining the company in 2018. With a background in the oil and gas industry, Catherine has worked on both corporate-level and inshore and offshore projects with companies such as McDermott and Saipem. Her extensive industry knowledge and commitment to safety has been instrumental in driving strong HSE performance at Odyssey.
Danny Outram
Marine Superintendent
Danny joined the marine industry in 2021 as the Port Hedland on-site Marine Superintendent. He is a qualified heavy-duty diesel mechanic with 30 years’ experience in the mining industry. Danny has a strong focus on preventative maintenance and providing quality servicing of vessels to allow them to perform at their best. He has a can-do attitude, is committed to all external customers, and is driven to making every job a success.

Having joined the Odyssey team in late 2023 as a HSEQ Operations Generalist, Chris brings over 10 years maritime, ports, logistics safety and operations experience. With a background in facilitating safety and operational strategies, Chris holds numerous qualifications in work health and safety, leadership and management, business operations, and training & assessment. Passionate about helping individuals achieve their goals, Chris is dedicated to promoting workplace safety and operational success within Odyssey.
